About Us

Our
Story

Our journey started with a shared passion for trauma healing, community, and transformation. As two counselors and counselor educators deeply committed to trauma-centered work, we often found ourselves in conversation about the polyvagal theory, somatics, Gabor Maté, and the importance of trauma education in counseling. We recognized the need for spaces that honored collective wisdom, focused on relational care, and centered on equity and social justice.

Four years later, those early conversations have turned into action. We realized that together, we could create an institute that reflects our shared values and interests—one rooted in anti-oppression and decolonized practice, expanding somatics and trauma-centered care, nurturing counselors, and representing the kind of educational environment we dreamed of!
